Paris, Day 3 - Versailles

This day, we arrived at Versailles, one of the most touristy places near Paris. A bright sunny day, and the longest trip out of Paris so far. Versailles promises much.

I was very impressed with the architecture, as well as the interior design.

The Hall of Mirrors is one of the places I was looking forward to visiting. A friend of mine was more excited than I am, when she found out I was visiting Versailles. In fact, she emailed me with her itinery and highlighted the Hall of Mirrors as the place to go. Unlike the name suggests, it isnt full of mirrors. Rather, if Versailles had been exquisite so far, the Hall of Mirrors is much more. The class of this place was beyond description.

End of Hall of Mirrors.

To be honest, the picture below did stun me at first. There was a hint that the traditional royal family still lives there, and that they were busy shunning the public's eye. However, after visually tailing them for a while, I realised that they were actors and actresses, filming around the area. How wonderful it would have been, to see a real royal family in traditional costumes.

If I thought the architecture and interior design of Versailles were the only beauty this trip has to offer, I was wrong. Stepping out of the endless building, their splendour garden greeted me. The air is pure. Life is simple. I could fathom being very contented with life here, but I imagine being part of the royal family means that life wouldnt be simple. Greed and lust taints the pictureque view. For for the sake of this innocent beauty before my eyes, I will not think about the history, but simply break for lunch at this rare sight.

This has to be one of the, if not the most tastiest biscuits I have ever tasted. Kudos to the french.

A good break and we'll continue on foot. The garden's huge to explore.

Kids trying to run away from the fountain, which rotates itself and scatters its rain in a 360 degree manner.

Apollo's grove, as described below.

Mirror fountain is a huge disappointment. The fountain is supposedly to be like a mirror - able to see your own reflection. When we reach there, all we see is a dirty pond.
