Day 6, I decided to take a trip to Winchester, to check out King Arther's round table. I barely had much time. I reached Victoria coach station at about 9, the ride there takes 2 hours plus, I would reach there at noon, and the last ride back is at 230pm. 2.5 hours to tour this small town.

This is how Winchester welcomes me. People say Singapore is a "Fine" City. Well, looks like there's one city that surpasses us. You get fined for Anti-Social behaviour.

This building houses the tourist info.
Winchester has the SMALLEST, but BEST tourist info center, so far in my life. The tourist info place was under construction, so they moved it undergroud. I thought they would have a small room for it, turns out, it was only a table. But the lady was so nice, she greeted me with loveliness, gave me a map, and mapped out a lovely route for me, that would take me through all the scenic places, even places that wasnt on my guide. Hence, small isnt bad. It depends on who really.

Tha lady maps out a route, which she claims would bring me through a lovely stream.

And I could see the castle.

The oldest college in England. Again, a tourist needs to pay to get in to visit.

I reached Winchester Cathedral, one of the 2 places I planned to visit, in my short stay here.

A book store behind the Cathedral, that sells really cheap books, at 1 pound.
Behind the Cathedral.
The Cathedral.
Finally, some nice english teenagers. Those 3 behind actually asked me if I wanted them to move away so that I can take the picture. I said its alright. And they were quite excited that they are posing for a picture. The people in Winchester has so far been really nice people. I guess, perhaps, the further one gets away from the main city, to the more quieter and less busy towns, the people there seems nicer.
Also, at this spot, I met a HongKong man, who took this picture for me. He was with his son. On my way back to London, I was to meet them again, and we chatted. I found out that he was on his way to London Heathrow Airport, back to Hong Kong. He took his son here, for his son to attend a qualifying examination for the college. He plans to put his son in the oldest college in England. It was really great talking to him.
I wanted to go into the Cathedral. As I stepped in, I realised that one has to pay to visit the interior. I wasnt happy about this, because my guide book says its for free. Although my guide book is a few years lagging, it shows that just because people starts to visit a place more, it turns into a fenced-up, pay to enter only, spot.
Next, I moved on from the Cathedral, to King Arther's Hall, where the round table is.
On my way there, the streets of Winchester.
Streets.

Just beside King Arther's hall, is an ancient ruin. I realised that Winchester used to be the capital of England, if I remember correctly.
Remains of the castle.

Tunnel into the castle underground, which was preserved.

The tunnel, but the rest of the path is locked up.

King Arther's hall.

King Arther's Round Table. When I went in, I could not find it. So I asked the staff there, and was told that the table was on the wall. It was so strange. I expect a table to be, a table. Standing on the floor, not hanging on a wall. One of the Old Kings decided to cut the support and hang it on the wall. We only know that there used to be 13 supports for the table. 12 going round, and 1 in the middle. And well, King Arther's knights of the round table is a myth, so is King Arther.
Another very interesting and beautiful aspect of the Hall, is the glass panel. There's 13 mosaics and each of them is different. There are many glass panels as such, and all has completely different sets of 13 shields.
Another one.
Next, I proceeded to the tourist gift shop and had a good chat about the history of the great hall with the old lady. She showed me the way to a gallery and a garden. This is also a place where I bought 2 little sovenior, influenced by the fact that the people in this town are so nice.

I still took anyway.

Next, I took to a nearby museum, which was formerly a prison.

At the top of the Museum. The museum wasnt interesting.
On the way back, waiting for the bus to come to go back to London. I met the HongKong man again.
After 2 hours, I start to see London. Some modern buildings.

I had to get back to London by about 6pm. Because I was meeting Heather for some cultural exhibition tour. I was told that it was extremely difficult to get a spot for this tour. We originally wanted to catch a musical today, but since we won the ballot, and its for free, we decided to go for it.

While waiting, I checked out the victoria library.

And I read these 2 books. Oh its so good to feel Singapore again. I remember, the cheapest hostel I read inside, is AH CHEW hostel. For S$8, you get a bed, but no fan, no aircon. For S$10, you get a fan and a bed. For S$12, you get aircon. Lol. And the funny thing is, they advertise this hostel more than any other more expensive ones. It says "for the total Singapore heartland experience, take to Ah Chew hostel, in the traditional streets. Its noisy, and dusty, but you get a total experience of cultural Singapore" Lol.
Time to get to White Chapel Gallery for the bus to take us to the exhibitions.

Seriously, most of the exhibitions are in very ulu places, like the one below.

And the exhibitions themselves are very weird, but kinda cool.

Another exhibit. This one in a less ulu place.

This one, SUPER ULU. Looks illegal and sneaky.

SUPER SUPER ULU place for an art exhibition.

The exhibition.

Last exhibition we went. This one not ulu at all. But very fascinating. Look at the glass panels, its full of grafitti.

With a message.
At night, we buy some food. This is the first time I tried this out. Paying with a machine. I had to scan all the food prices and the put only in the machine, and get change. My friend says that NTUC tried to implement this, but failed, because Singaporeans would rather queue up longer, and have someone scan and do things for them, than to be fast and do things themselves. lol.
End of Day 6.
